About the Webinar

Significant reforms to NSW strata laws fundamentally transformed how strata schemes operate. This practical session focuses on how the reforms are actually operating on the ground, where schemes and advisers are getting caught out, and what property lawyers need to watch for when advising clients in 2026. It covers:

  • How “automatic approval” of minor renovations is working in practice, and where schemes are still getting it wrong
  • Understanding the mandatory sustainability agenda items for AGMs and sustainability issues related to by-laws
  • Unfair contract terms and specific prohibited terms in strata management contracts – what should be fixed now
  • Accessibility infrastructure requests and emerging pressure points in disputes
  • New fiduciary-style duties for strata committee members requiring honest and fair conduct – early risk areas and liability exposure
  • The extension of damages claims from two to six years and new prohibitions on delaying repairs when legal action is underway
  • Practical implications of increased record inspection fees and enhanced managing agent reporting requirements
  • Changes to embedded network utility agreements
