About the Webinar

The AML/CTF reforms are here – and they’re not just targeting the usual suspects. With the expansion of Tranche 2 to include designated non-financial businesses and professions, many lawyers will find themselves caught by obligations they’ve never had to consider before. This session unpacks what the reforms mean in practice, who is affected, and what steps need to be taken now to prepare for compliance.

Topics include:

  • What’s changing: Overview of the new AML/CTF obligations for legal practitioners
  • Who is caught: Understanding the definition of designated services and affected legal practices
  • Real-world application: Property transactions, trust and company formation, and other high-risk areas
  • Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Ultimate Beneficial Ownership (UBO) and ongoing monitoring – what’s required?
  • Risk assessments, AML programs and reporting obligations – what will your firm need to implement?
  • Managing confidentiality, privilege and tipping off concerns under the new regime
  • What guidance has been released – and what’s still to come?
  • Practical steps to get your practice AML-ready before enforcement begins
