Dr Matthew Turnour

Dr Matthew Turnour has over 35 years’ experience as a lawyer. He has ongoing involvement in the university sector as researcher and Senior Fellow of Melbourne University attached to the NFP governance project. He also has extensive involvement in the religious community sector as a volunteer.

The focus of his practice, research, teaching and volunteering is law, tax and governance affecting not-for-profits, particularly religious institutions.

In December 2017 he was appointed by the Commonwealth as one of the four panellists to undertake the review of the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits legislation.

Third Sector Magazine Australia named him 2018’s Influencer of the Year.
